BRAMPTON FIRE STATION FINAL SUBMISSIONThe idea behind the design of this fire station represents the main basic need of decontamination. Fire trucks returning from the fire enters into the apparatus bay which has two separated space, Contaminated bay- where trucks are washed and decontaminated and another part is for the truck to go for the fire. Fire fighters after removing their PPE enters to the wipe off area and then into the shower area. This area has few contaminants and is separated from the other living area. There are only two entrance between green living area and apparatus bay, one is in decontaminated apparatus bay for fire fighters to decontaminate themselves and another is for them to go for fire. Living area is having Chief's office, Sleeping dorms, Recreation room, Gym and Kitchen. Gym is covered with the curtain wall to bring natural light inside. Kitchen area is changed and it has large curtain wall with lots of seating space. Kitchen is attached with the patio to give the indoor-outdoor connectivity. Main entrance is provided on the front side of the building facing Queen street. The Exterior of the building is mainly covered with the prodema panel of dark brown color, Meridian brick of Snow white color and glass curtain wall. Site plan shows that the addition was taken place at the fire route side of the building and at the back of the apparatus bay. Fire route is changed accordingly and landscaping is taken into consideration to connect the indoor living space with the outside nature and also to create a barrier between building and fire route. In this floor plan red zone indicates the area with higher contaminants and includes apparatus bay and contaminated gear storage area. Yellow zone represents the less contaminated area which is used by the firefighters to cleanup. Green zone indicates the living area including Chief's offices, Sleeping dorms, Kitchen, Gym, Recreation room and Patio. This images above is the detail plan view and 3D render of the kitchen area. This area is having one large glass curtain wall which is the main source for the natural sun light and the landscaping view outside. This area gives the connectivity between inside and outside. Images above is the Gym and render show how the natural sun light and outside view is taken into consideration in the design of the gym. Above is the building section of the fire station from both the existing and new addition. PPE turnout gear storage, apparatus bay and electrical room are kept as it. Recreation room is added for the fire fighter to spend some time with each other. Kitchen area shows the interior detailing of the kitchen cabinetry and dining area. This elevation represents the front of the building. Change in this elevation is the main entrance of the building. Prodema panels is used on the living area side and Snow mist colored Meridian Brick is used on the apparatus bay side. This is the side elevation where majority of the addition taken place. This side of facade is mainly having living space such as gym, kitchen and patio. So, Curtain wall is provided to bring light inside. Trees and shrubs are planted to create the barrier between living space and fire route. Above images are the 3D renders of the front and back of the building respectively. Front render focuses on the main entrance while back render focuses on the patio design and landscaping around.
